Lev Sapieha built the church of the Ascension of the Virgin Mary in Dyatlovo.
In 1708, during the Great Northern War, the Russian emperor Peter the Great stayed in Dyatlovo. At a later date, Dyatlovo was occupied by the Swedish troops who burned the castle and the town.
