Annual inflation in the Republic of Belarus is gaining momentum
Annual inflation in the Republic of Belarus was 16.8%, the National Statistical Committee reported. The researchers compared data from April 2022 to April 2021. Monthly inflation in Belarus in April was 1.6%. But in annual terms, price growth continued to speed up. As a result, annual inflation in the Republic of Belarus in April of this year reached the level of 16.8% (in March – 15.9%).
According to Belstat:
- Food products increased in price by 3.9% compared to March 2022, and by 19% compared to April 2021.
- Non–food products increased in price by 0.7% (April to March), and in annual terms (April 2022 to April 2021) – by 18.6%.
- Services have become cheaper by 1.3% on a monthly basis, and more expensive by 10.7% on an annual basis.
Moreover, in Belarus, by the end of 2021, inflation was 9.97% with a planned indicator of 5%. In January 2022, the annual increase in consumer prices was 10.4%. In February, annual inflation in Belarus slowed down. The increase in consumer prices amounted to 9.99%. We observe this when comparing with last year’s figures, experts say.
In March of this year, inflation accelerated and jumped to 6.1%. In annual terms, compared to March last year, consumer prices increased by 15.9%.
Prices for food products in annual terms were at the level of 15.6%, for non—food products – 18.7%. Services have risen in price by 12.7% relative to March 2021.

Prices for fruit and vegetable products were at the greatest in annual terms. As a result, the cost of fruit and vegetable products in March 2022 increased to 41.6% (by March 2021).
